6 Things I Didn’t Know About Pregnancy

dani Austin pregnancy what I didn't know about pregnancy

Growing this Stella girl has been such a learning adventure! Pregnancy has thrown me some curveballs that I wish I had known about beforehand. You’re obviously never going to know everything, and I’m sure that if I have another baby, that pregnancy might be totally different than this one! But y’all, there are wayyy more than 6 things I didn’t know… I had to narrow it down! Here are a few surprises I’ve learned about pregnancy!

1. Your gums bleed.

Yep. Gross, right? During pregnancy, your hormones can make your gums more plaque-sensitive. It’s a real thing called pregnancy gingivitis! If your flossing routine has you looking like the Joker, just know it’s totalllllly normal.

2. The baby tickles your bladder!

I knew that pregnant women seemed to have to pee all the time – but I didn’t know why! I have to pee CONSTANTLY. It’s been a real struggle in my runs! I literally have to plan my runs based around where I can pee these days. I mean guys, I literally bought a pee funnel for the road trip Jordan and I are on. And I’ve already used it. Like 4 times and counting. Stella is tickling my bladder and I just wanna be like “girl! Stop messing with your mama like that!” 🤣

3. There are SO many doctor’s appointments.

I feel like I am constantly in a waiting room! I thought that you pretty much popped in a few times for ultrasounds and cute pics for your fridge – turns out, there’s a litttttle more to it than that. Pre-natal appointments basically just check in with baby to make sure everything’s going okay. It’s not a super extensive or invasive visit each time – they usually just check your blood pressure, weight, and the baby’s size. But fun fact: after 10-12ish weeks, you can listen to your baby’s heartbeat every visit!

4. Your hair grows.

If you know anything about my hair loss journey, this one is a WIN for me, ladies! But before we get too excited – hair LOSS can also happen postpartum. So I’m sticking to my hair growth routine to keep these locks as long as possible.

5. Your baby can scare you!

When Stella first kicked, it kind of freaked me out! It’s mostly just that you aren’t expecting it. Unless you’ve already had kids, you can’t really imagine it until it happens. Like you know there’s a baby growing inside of you, but it becomes a LOT more real when they surprise you with a good kick LOL! You do get a lot more used to it, but it scared me a little at first!

6. Babies need a LOT OF STUFF.

I didn’t even know that half of these products existed. Like apparently you need a a portable breast pump AND one that plugs into the wall, tons of baby bottles for feedings throughout the day, a front carrier – the list seriously goes on. And on. And ON. Thankfully, y’all know I love hunting for a good bargain, and mama loves shopping! So does the Tornado, who has been helping me prep 🤪

There’s so much I had no idea about, and I haven’t even had the baby yet! What surprised you about pregnancy? I’d love to read your tips and get a heads up!

XOXO Dani

nah girl you don’t need a portable and a plug in pump. I use the baby buddha because I heard about it in a lot of breastfeeding groups and I wear it around my neck. Its hospital grade and super powerful so you don’t need another one. I think the Medela freestyle pump came out right after I got mine though and its very similar, possibly better. You just need to get a deal with Medela because all of their stuff is great (except their regular pump because its an open system so a lot more to clean).

    This is so stupid.

Tickles your bladder. Like lol stop.

And then babies don’t NEED a lot of stuff, you just have a lot of money and so your child will have a lot of stuff.

Your hair loss is probably due to being malnourished.

Wow. Was that really a necessary comment you needed to make public in your name against Dani who has never hurt you in any way? Are you proud of what you just said? Would you feel okay if your children see what you wrote? What about your grandparents?

I hope you really reevaluate your behavior.

I’m sure Dani has the courtesy and respect to not even worry about post like these, but honestly…SOO DISRESPECTFUL of you to post this. Funny thing is, you took the time out of your day to find this post, read it, and then post your comment(but didn’t have the guts to add your name) So yeah, YOUARESOANNOYING. I feel very sad for you, because no matter your age, gender, race, or other identity…you hide behind something to post something so mean. If you need help or security in yourself, seriously reach out. This is a REAL person’s post that you posted to with real feelings. I hope you learn to NEVER post anything like this again. I’m sure at this point Dani understands that she is going to receive hate comments like this, but I sure hope you don’t post something like this on someone else’s post that doesn’t understand how to ignore such mean words. Please go get help, before you hurt someone or yourself. Your life matters enough to me and I don’t even know you. Please go get help!

I agree the first kick is definitely startling. You are just a few days behind my pregnancy. Not even a full week so it’s been fun following your journey. I’m excited for you guys and your little girl. My husband and I are expecting a boy. I too did not realize how many Drs appointments I’d have to go to and everyone I know made it out like all Drs appointments would be invasive. I am so glad they are not. Are you dealing with hip pain at all? I’m a little behind with watching your stories so just curious. If you are I’d be happy to hear any tips that have helped you.

I just printed this off to save for when I start a family! ❤️ Thank you! I was wondering if you could give a similar honest review on your post-partum experience? Everyone seems to not want to share the not so fun details and I’d really like to know what to expect… especially how your body readjusts and gets back to its normal weight/size and the baby items you did not end up using!

Give Stella a hug for me!

Nose bleeds were aweful! One time a whole blood clot the size of a plum came out my nose! I freaked out.

A friend also told me that after you give birth to prepare to be walked back to a bathroom and drop a bunch of blood down the way. I was kinda glad she told me that ahead of time instead of me being surprised about it.

Im now pregnant with my second one and Im here to be reminded of what’s to come cause you quickly forget! 😉

    Feeling nauseous now gotta go.bye
