Have you heard the phrase, “It takes a village”? Well, lemme tell ya…it takes a village of websites and apps to run a blog! In my years figuring out this blogging gig, I’ve realized that it’s so much more than just logging in and writing (I wish!). I get asked all the time about the sites I use to help my blogging go smoothly. So here’s a list of some of my insider tips to make your blog a beautiful and successful space:

Also if you are serious about taking your blogging career to the next level, check out my ‘How to Start a Fashion Blog‘ series where I go super in depth with what worked for me!

1. Design your own graphics using Canva.

I LOVE Canva because it let’s me dig into my artistic side through its drag-and-drop collage feature and has pre-made templates I can use for graphics. This is what I use for IG story templates, pinterest graphics (do you follow me on Pinterest!?) , blog graphics, YouTube thumbnails, my media kit, the list goes on and on! You can work with photos, graphics, and a ton of fonts to create really cool images. But the best news is that Canva is FREE—bonus!!—so unlike other design software that costs major moolah, Canva is available without any strings, which is a huge plus.

2. Grow your email list through MailChimp

I use MailChimp for my email newsletters that go out to subscribers on my site. It’s super simple, and is also one of the most well known email marketing servers, which feels good knowing I’m using a reliable choice. So now when ya get your next email from me, you’ll know who sent it!

3. Sumo helps build an email base

You know those popups that ask for your email when you visit a site? Those are called lead magnets an they’re a great way to get more subscribers and start the build a loyal following. I love Sumo because it’s easy and creates really appealing pop-ups (rather than those annoying ones). There’s a free and premium version of the service, so you can decide just how many features you need.

4. Keywordtool.io is a word genius

Imma be real for a sec….blogging is all about getting traffic to your site, and one of the best ways to accomplish that is through the right wording. Keywordtool is an awesome (and free!) product that tailors your blog titles for the best SEO results, no matter the topic. You’d be surprised that a simple change of one or two words could make a big difference in your blog’s ranking in searches!

5. Track stats with Iconosquare

If you’ve ever thought, “I wonder how many people clicked to read this post,” or “Which of my pages gets more views?” Iconosquare gives you the answer. I use it to track all of my social media stats. It’s one of the widest Facebook and Instagram marketing companies. I love getting real data that I can use to improve my site and posts!

6. Schedule posts with LATER

Y’all…this is a LIFESAVER. This platform allows me to visually plan and schedule all my Instagram posts. I can organize my media on a weekly or even monthly basis, which is a HUGE time saver for any blogger. I love it because I don’t have to be tied to my computer or phone 24/7 (even tho I pretty much still am…duhhhh).

7. Asana for task management

This web-based system is great for teams who need to stay on the same page. It’s awesome because everyone can know what’s going on, where to find things, who’s doing what…..ya get da point. The calendar view is particularly great to see a whole month at a glance. Type A like me? Get Asana—it’s an organizational dream.

8. Communicate with team through Slack

Slack is a great communication tool for all members of your team. I like it because I can communicate with freelancers I hire—near and far—as well as the people I work with on a daily basis (hello, Jordan and Cassidy!). Slack allows you to have one-on-one messages, or group messages. It’s so much easier than email or text to keep everyone up to date.

xo,
Dani
