4 Tips to Fight the Frizz
Hey Sassy ladies! Warmer weather is rollin’ in…and you know what that means: humidity. Now, I’m all about beachy waves and tousled salt water locks—if I’m at the beach. But strollin’ down the street doing some window shopping? Not so much. Beating the humidity can be a pain, but certainly not impossible.
Check out these few tips and tricks to keep your hair in check even in the cruelest humid conditions.
1. Invest in some smoothing products
When it comes to taming frizzy hair in the summertime, it’s all about the products you choose. Look for serums and creams that use the terms “smoothing” or “moisturizing.” Better yet, pick up a product that includes keratin—the most magical ingredient when it comes to getting the smoothest strands.
Whether it’s shampoo, conditioner, mousse, or spray…you wanna give your locks a generous dose of love. All of these options will help coat your hair so it doesn’t soak up any of the moisture from the air outside.
2. Dry, style, then DON’T TOUCH
After your shower, wrap your hair in a microfiber towel that is super absorbent, as well as gentle on your strands. Normal bath towels can be rough and cause breakage (especially when you rub dry your hair), which then causes more flyaways and frizz.
Apply your product of choice, style, and then leave your hair alone. Lemme repeat: Don’t. Touch. Your. Hair. The more you play with it, the more frizzy it will get. Trust me.
3. Embrace your natural texture
Maybe during these humid months of the year you decide to embrace your natural hair texture, whether that’s curls, waves, or even kinky coils! Let’s face it…putting a ton of effort and heat into your hair when you KNOW it’s just going to balloon up, seems pointless. And there’s really no better time to go au natural than summer.
So roll outta bed, give your head a good shake and embrace my motto: Big hair, don’t care.
4. Pull it up
Despite your best effort to kick humidity in the butt, sometimes a good ‘ol fashioned up-do is in order. Accent with some trendy clips or headbands and no one will ever know!
Look at it this way…it’s hot outside, so you might as well stay cool! A high (or low!) ponytail can be oh- so-chic with everything from cut offs and a tee to an adorable sundress and heels. Or try a braid for a sweet look that keeps your hair in place. When all else fails, I reach for my trusty backup: a baseball cap.
So this spring and summer, don’t let the April showers (and the humidity that comes with them!) to get in your way of an amazing hair day. Follow these four tips to beat the humidity and keep rocking that Sassy look you know you’ve got.
