Gugu Guru | The Ultimate Baby Registry Concierge

Gugu Guru | The Ultimate Baby Registry Concierge

So y’all know how I mentioned in my last post that babies need a LOT OF STUFF?! I meant it. When I started shopping, I was so overwhelmed by everything we needed to buy. I didn’t even know where to start, or how to know which brands to trust or which models to buy. I ended up finding Gugu Guru which has been a lifesaver! Gugu Guru is a service that makes highly personalized product recommendations for new or expectant parents. It’s kind of like a Stitch Fix but for a baby registry!

I used Gugu Guru to help me find everything I needed to add to my baby registry. Baby products are a whole new world and Gugu Guru really helped educate me on the products I’m gonna need for bebe – PLUS which brands are the best! You guys know that I really care about finding the RIGHT products for me, so obviously I care even MORE about finding the right things for my Stella girl. Gugu Guru lets you take a customized quiz to gauge your personal style and lifestyle options – plus, you can choose upgrade options to get even more detailed recommendations. I did the Concierge Service for reference and had an hour-long consult with Abby from Gugu Guru. She was the MOST helpful in educating me on all the baby things. For example, the Elvie breast pump was a great breast pump option, but ideal for travel over day to day use. That’s the kind of thing I would never have known before purchasing!

You can receive 20% off on Gugu Guru’s Expert Care or Concierge Care packages (Petite Care is not included) with code DANI20!

We got my whole registry set up, so I wanted to share with y’all for reference. Of course, your registry might look totally different based on your lifestyle and preferences!

What we ordered  for our Baby Registry

Everyday Stroller

UPPABaby Vista V2 Stroller with Bassinet

dani austin uppababy stroller

The UPPABaby Vista V2 Stroller with Bassinet is like the luxury SUV of strollers 😏 This bad boy has a built in bassinet, is so cushioned and breathable, and navigates smoothly. The basket underneath can hold up to 30 pounds (y’all know I don’t travel light hehe) and once Stella outgrows the bassinet, it can be exchanged for a toddler seat! I seriously have my eye on this one…

Larktale ChitChat

dani austin baby registry gugu guru

The Larkdale ChitChat is a great, more affordable stroller option. They have two reclining seats, swivel wheels, and a waterproof basket.

Travel Strollers – a must for on the go. I heard you need a good travel stroller that is light enough to tow around wherever you may be!

Silver Cross Jet

dani austin baby registry

Sure, this cutie has a rain cover, one hand fold and a five point harness system – but that all paled in comparison when I found out it can be folded up as a CARRY ON!!! If you’re a traveling mama, this is the choice for you. It’s important to keep in mind that a travel stroller can’t be used for newborns – the baby needs to be old enough to be able to hold their head up independently before using a lighter stroller like this one. It’s also not really a good substitute for a regular stroller, but it IS perfect for short spurts (like going on a trip)!

Monitors – These are both wifi monitors, so you will be able to check on your phone!

Comotomo and/or Nanobebe (LOVE their pacifiers!)

Pumps

Elvie Wearable Double Electric Breast Pump

dani austin baby registry elvie pump

These are straight up MAGIC. You can slip these into your nursing bra and they will pump as you walk around living your life! They are silent and the suction levels are adjustable, so you can really pump to your comfort level. These have really good reviews, and are especially popular among working mamas! You don’t have to stop to pump – you can just do it low key!

Spectra S1 or Motif Luna

dani austin baby registry gugu guru spectra dani austin baby registry gugu guru motif luna

The Motif Luna or Spectra S1  are both great options and are similar price points as well. They both allow you to double or single pump, so you can either pump both breasts at once, or you can pump one and nurse on the other!

Sleep

Snoo Smart Sleeper Bassinet or Baby Bjorn Cradle

The Snoo Smart Sleeper Bassinet looks AWESOME. It has a custom motor that rocks baby to sleep super gently (I’m hoping this might really help her to sleep better, and in turn, US to sleep better!) – plus a built-in swaddle that will keep baby safe and secure on her back all night. There’s even an app that tells you about your baby’s sleeping patterns and has a setting that weans the baby off the rocking gradually so that she can transition to a crib seamlessly. This is a HUGE selling point for me.

The Baby Bjorn Cradle is a similar, more affordable option. This one rocks as well, but there’s no app feature or choice for weaning off the rocking.

In addition to this amazingly curated list of supplies, Gugu Guru is throwing an amazing FREE virtual event for working moms! Tons of amazing free seminars will take place at different times from September 14-18 – you can read the agenda and sign up here! I am seriously so excited for this – they’re going to have online seminars about how to navigate COVID as a working mother, how to find your calm and balance, how to support black working mothers in the workplace, finding an at-home routine – it’s going to be amazing.

I’m especially excited because Whitney Port, who is like influencer mom GOALS, is going to be speaking about her experience being a working mother. Even though I’m going to take some maternity leave and slow down as necessary, I’m definitely still going to be working after Stella is here, and hearing Whitney’s perspective is going to be so helpful. I really love learning and surrounding myself with the tools to succeed, so when I heard about this conference I was like “SIGN ME UP, SISTA!”

I hope you guys will be learning with me! As far as my supplies go – what do you think I’m missing?! Mamas – I’d love your recommendations!

XOXO Dani

The Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair and newborn lounger are very highly rated. Our baby loved sleeping in the newborn lounger and now loves watching us eat at the dinner table. If you look more into starting solid foods, a lot of professionals recommend that the baby’s feet are resting on a platform for body control.

I hated my Elvie pump. It broke after 3 months. I did not know until I stwiched pump how much more I could have been pumping. My co workers always knew when I was pumping with the Elvie because it was not quite.

Thank you for creating this resource. I am curious though, since you’re a first time mom, how can you say you’re “loving” certain products? I know a lot of times things can be highly rated but then don’t work out for baby or for mom. I’d love a review after Stella gets here so we can get a true review!

Girl you NEEEEEEED the Fisher Price Puppy Swing. Legit don’t know what I would do without it. Also need 3 sound machines so you don’t have to keep moving it around depending on where baby naps.

    Hi Dani!

Can’t wait till we can meet Stella! You and Jordan are going to be amazing parents, you’re already great parents to your fur babies 🙂
Will you be setting up a gift registry? You’ve been such a big influence to me over the last couple of years and I would love to give you something in return.
    Hope you are all well!

    Lots of love,
    Eilidh xo
