Cozying up in my favorite holiday pajamas while planning my presentation for the University of Texas’ Fashion Group. This really brings things full circle for me because most of my time at UT was spent learning about biology and kinesiology; attending Kinesiology Club meetings, and shadowing physical therapists at clinics all over Austin.
A particular story sticks out to me during my sophomore year at UT. One week, at Kin Club– we had a physical therapist come speak to the group during one of our meetings. She talked about breaking bones, torn ligaments, and dissecting organs during PT school. I remember sitting there thinking, 1. This is NASTY and 2. Where in the world did she get her shoes?
From that moment, I decided I HAD to find a way to do what I LOVED. Cue, YouTube and the blog. I really enjoy putting in the time and effort to make people’s lives easier. Some may not respect the field as much as they respect a doctoral program, like physical therapy, but I find that both fields are able to bring value to people’s lives in very different ways. I’m very aware that talking about holiday pajamas is not the same as rehabilitating an injury– but I also think believe that people should use what they are passionate about to bring joy and value to people’s lives.
I have many girl-boss girlfriends, in fact two of my bff’s are physician assistants and nutritionists and LOVE what they do, and I respect them so much. I just think there are a multitude of ways to care for other people. And today, for me, that’s with holiday PJ’s…because what gets you in the spirit quite like a cozy pair of PJ’s? These can also double as great gifts for girlfriends, guys in your life, or anyone on your list!
