With 2016 around the corner, I guess it’s time to start thinking about the new year! Coming up with a resolution and keeping it for the 365 days sounds like a pretty intense commitment, plus there’s nothing more depressing than a New Year’s resolution that ends on January 15th.

Good news is, it doesn’t have to be that way!

I have been thinking of ways to keep up with the goals I set for next year combat the New Year’s Resolution blues.  I listed out 4 ideas I had to “keep your New Year’s resolution.”

2016 can, and should, be a great time to start implementing long lasting changes in your life! So get pumped and #leggo. (sorry for the cheesiness heh..)

1. Focus on positive goals rather than negative goals.

Always trying to stop yourself from doing an old (negative) habit takes your focus away from trying to learn a new (positive) way of doing something. Put your effort into establishing new habits rather than avoiding and dreading the old ones. Get excited about doing something new and growing stronger!

2.  Pick a game changer.

What is the one thing you can do consistently for the next month or so to keep you focused on accomplishing your goal? Maybe it’s meeting with a financial adviser, asking a friend to run with you twice a week, committing to an online course, or hiring an assistant to assist you with taxes.

3. Be specific.

What exactly are you going to do differently and how are you going to get there? For example, I am practicing piano 30 min/day Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday at 5:30. Stick to your commitment and be willing to make sacrifices knowing that reaching your goal will be well worth it. Making changes or implementing new habits requires effort but organizing and planning your efforts may help you longterm.

4. Set short time goals.

Try breaking down a goal of yours into smaller time periods. This way you wont feel overwhelmed or discouraged when one season of your life is more busy or difficult than others. It’s important to take one step at a time and celebrate the small milestones as soon as you achieve them.

I am still planning out my 2016 but I keep reminding myself to be patient yet diligent planning things out. Till then, I thought I would share one of my favorite chilly weather outfits considering it’s under 50 degrees here in Austin, TX! Woohoo!

This comfy v neck sweater dress is the perfect sweater-weather staple. I love how easy it is to wear transitioning from day to night and with so many different accessories. The material keep me ultra warm and doesn’t fit too tight. I dressed it up with a plaid blanket scarf and brown knee high boots that matched pretty well with my Tory Burch wallet!

Would love to hear what y’all New Year’s resolution is below in the comments!
