3 Lessons I Learned in 2018
Cheers to a new year! You may be ready to kiss 2018 goodbye, but this past year will forever hold a special place in my heart as the year that Jordan and I officially became husband and wife. We had so many adventures along the way, and I’m SO grateful for all of our experiences.
BUUUUTTTT…it wouldn’t be the end of the year without looking back on what you’ve learned along the way. Ya’ll know I’m all about honesty and transparency, and part of that sharing some of my favorite things that made an impact in my life – for better or worse. So here’s a peek at three significant lessons I learned in 2018:
Lesson 1: Time Management
They say you either need to run the day or the day will end up running you (been there, done that, right?). As my work life and personal life has grown, I really needed to figure out a way to budget my time and resources now that I’m a married lady. From budgeting for our wedding, to buying a home, to other areas of married life (like combining bank accounts, setting budgets as a couple, etc), I turned to Adobe for help….and lemme tell you that this software is Life. Changing.
Adobe Scan lets you scan receipts, turn them into PDFs, and save the files for easy organization and reference. No more forgetting that you bought that one thing (oops), or that you paid that one bill late (double oops). Tracking your spending is important when your head is pulled in a gazillion directions. Adobe also helps keep you on track for the dreaded tax season. Now, I dunno about ya’ll, but I can get overwhelmed when it comes to taxes…so this process eased that burden.
You can download Adobe Scan from the app store. Available for iOS and Android. Download here!
Lesson 2: Do what you love
I’ve always had a passion for sharing my experiences through my blog and social outlets, but this year brought that to a new level with the creation of The Sassy Club! The Sassy Club truly is at the heart of my platform—I LOVE bringing women together, sharing ideas, and lifting each other up. One of the biggest lessons I learned this year was that it was possible to integrate my passions into business. For me, it’s all about community and helping empower my other sassy mamas! My advice for anyone else who has similar dreams is to find what you love and then find a way to turn that passion into your career. It IS possible—with lots of hard work and dedication.
Lesson 3: The power of teamwork
The third (but certainly not final) lesson I learned in 2018 revolves around coming together with others in my industry. This past year, I really focused on collaboration over competition….and what I realized is that alone we can do little, but together we can do a lot. I LOVE being part of the fashion blogger world, and I’ve met some AMAZING people in my journey. Competition, in excess, can be damaging. Instead, collaboration makes people better. I’m so grateful to have found people who relate to my visions, goals, and objectives, and who fill me back up and encourage my ambitions. It’s true: we rise by lifting others—and that’s going to continue to be one of my sole purposes in 2019.
So here’s to the end of another year and the start of a new one. I wish all of my followers and Sassy ladies a happy and healthy 2019 full of love and laughter. Happy New Year!
I challenge you to reflect on 2018 and look back on where you went above and beyond and where you fell short. In which areas can you improve? And how? There are so many resources to help you out, make sure to make 2019 the best year yet!
xo,
Dani
