Ever looked at faux-leather leggings and thought there’s just no way you could pull them off? Nonsense! I’m here to tell ya that leather leggings (the faux version, of course) are HAWT! They’re THE perfect way to tap into your inner “bad girl” and bring out your edgy side. Trust me, every Sassy Girl needs to own a pair (or five…eek!) of leather leggings.

So maybe you’ve been rockin’ those bad boys all winter long (GUILTY as charged!), but good news! Just because spring is right around the corner doesn’t mean you have to shove those puppies to the back of the closet.

What I love about fashion today is that there ain’t no rules! That’s right, those old-school myths about what you “can” and “can’t” wear are long gone. Fashion is about expression—and there’s no limit to how you can make your personal style work for you.

So when you think you have to banish your leather leggings when the temperatures start to rise, think again. Here’s my favorite ways to transition your leather leggings into spring…

  1. Find a lightweight option. Leather can be heavy, and even when it’s faux, it can still carry weight optically. For the springtime, look for a pair that are thinner than your winter choices. My favorite pair right now are the Commando ones because they have a more structured material compared to the Spanx which are more like your athletic-wear leggings.
  2. Show some ankle. Is there anything more chic than an ankle pant in the spring? NOPE! Try a leather legging that hits above the ankle for a cute, cropped look (these have pockets, too! In case you’re not feeling the whole legging look). Those extra couple inches of skin will make the leggings look more warm-weather appropriate.
  3. Pair with other seasonal pieces. Instead of wearing them with chunky boots and an oversized sweater (which are more associated with winter), try combining leather leggings with an open-toe pump and a flowy blouse. Chiffon and leather are a dream combo, as the light, sheer material balances the heaviness of leather. Still a bit chilly? Until the temps really climb, reach for your lightweight tops, even if they are sweaters (I love my long, gray duster cardigan, and it’s light enough to be the perfect layering piece).
  4. Take a casual approach. So you’re not a heel girl? Bust out da sneaks! For a low-key weekend look, leather leggings look adorbs with Chuck Taylors or slip-ons and a classic denim jacket. A crisp, white tee underneath also adds a little infusion of spring to the outfit.

Faux-leather leggings are beyond stylish (they’re my go-to!), so why only wear them half the year? With so many options to choose from, there’s a design for every sassy lady out there! So grab your sunnies and strut your sexy self right on into spring!
