I spent too much of 2017 letting external factors define my worth and break my confidence. In this world of social media and influencers, it’s difficult to not compare yourself to others around you. I am guilty of this. Instagram shows you a world where everything is beautiful and everyone lives a perfect life, but that’s not necessarily reality. I can seriously attest to that. There are times where this job makes me question myself: “Do I have what it takes to grow this brand into so much more?” “Are there others who are doing better than I am?”
These kinds of spirit-crushing questions find me when my confidence is at its lowest, and here, my self-worth is tested. I must remember that even though we have a view into so many people’s lives through social media, the only one we need to concern ourselves with is our own. Let me tell you, there are days when I wake up and I’m like, I GOT THIS!!! But then there are others that consume me with discouragement. It’s natural. Life is a rollercoaster and we cannot always anticipate what will come or how we will feel.
2017 taught me to be find strength within myself, despite every external factor thrown my way. There were times when I wanted to give up and surrender to the pressure but I remembered what I was capable of, what we are all capable of. Our uniqueness is our power and our strength. There is no one out there like you!!! Once I realized that, I was able to embrace all the quirkiness and sassiness that was Dani Austin.
