Fashion Life Lesson #1. Make a habit out of investing in classic wardrobe staples.

Before this week, I never owned a black coat. Why? Because I get too excited when I see pattern, details, embellishments, colors, and fringe. It’s not terrible, but every jacket I own is trendy in one way or another and put it this way, last year I went to a sorority formal wearing my nicest LBD, high heels, all decked out head to toe and to top it off, a yellow Northface jacket. This was because I didn’t have a coat nice enough (that matched) to keep me warm.

I am so proud of myself for FINALLY purchasing my little black coat for this Fall. This quilted coat is from Ralph Lauren and it’s lightweight yet keeps me super warm. I kept this whole look traditional with black skinny jeans and a black sweater with white collared blouse. To spice it up a little I added a playful gold chunky bib necklace (‘The Courtney Bib’ from Bauble Bar), gold Michael Kors watch, and leopard pumps (that are SO comfy and only 78$)!
