Spring is slow to come thankfully because I’m not ready to say farewell to my favorite winter staples just yet, but I am excited to reintroduce some warm-weather clothing back into my wardrobe rotation. Transitioning from winter to spring styles in a way that feels seasonally appropriate—acknowledging the reality of Austin’s bipolar climate—calls for a closet balancing act.
Cue the mock turtleneck, a surprisingly versatile piece that can be worn in the cooler weather before the sun scorches all of Texas. The key? Focus on fabrication, cut, and proportions.

When it comes to styling other mock turtleneck combos, try a sleeveless turtleneck paired with pants, a long sleeve turtleneck paired with shorts, or maybe event a boxy cut turtleneck with your favorite pair of boyfriend jeans. My personal favorite? A cropped rendition of a turtleneck with an a line skirt for a feminine yet flattering appeal. Perhaps the most crazy combo of all? What about a neck hugging turtleneck with a pair of overalls? Something about it says ‘effortless chic’ to me!
