How To Create A Vanity Nook In Your Bedroom

Wouldn’t it be nice if everything in life were simple and predictable? *Sigh* Alas, that’s just not how the world works. And the same is true for interior design! Figuring out how to decorate a space of any shape and size takes time and patience. So when it came time for us to figure out what the HECK to do with a little nook area in our bedroom, we scratched our heads for hot minute and then BAM, it hit us: a vanity (duhhh)!

The vanity is a perfect fit for this odd little space. Not only does it physically fit the area well, but it is a nice separation from the rest of the bedroom. I love the wallpaper that we chose to give a feminine feel in such a girly part of my room. A vanity is the perfect way to hold your essentials in an organized way as part of your room’s décor. Whether your vanity has drawers, shelves, or just simply a shelf, it serves both a functional and fashionable purpose in any girl’s bedroom (sorry guys!).

When to know you need a vanity in your bedroom. Lighting. Have you ever gotten ready in the dark?? That’s how I feel getting ready in my bathroom. Natural light is amazing for putting on your make up. It makes me getting ready so much easier! This little nook had the light coming in from the bedroom windows which worked out great! Your vanity nook might be in a different location where the natural light pours in. Do some experimenting to find what works for you!

However, makeup heaven isn’t the only thing you can use for a nook area. Nooks are fun to design because they often have a cozy feel. Why not try loading it up with plush pillows and a lamp for a comfy reading space? Or maybe you finally splurge on that amazing bookshelf you’ve been eyeing and use it as a place to display your most prized possessions (wedding pics, of course!).

Complete the vanity and open up your space. Our nook is complete with a fun Anthropologie mirror and a shag rug from Loloi. When I’m not primping at the vanity, you can find me rollin’ around with my fur babies on the super soft carpet. I love the look of our bedroom nook and it proved that even spaces that make you think “Huh?” can end up being designed in a unique way.

Whatever your personality and lifestyle, a vanity nook (or any nook!) can be a fun addition to your room. So experiment with styles to find the best representation of you!
